This month is the awareness month of mental health. This should not be the only month we are aware and/or speak of the importance of mental health but it is a great opportunity for us all. Let's speak! For all those who own a business, you're in a leadership in a business, and/or a part of a business in any aspect your mental heath status is extremely important as well as those around you. This could include a co-worker, a team player, a student, a volunteer, CEO, management, or those in a higher up seat helping to make decisions. Just simply being a human shares challenges in life. Being able to manage those challenges in life that may present themselves is the key. Some may have this all planned out with a support system, tools, resources, and other ways to manage. However, each of us will experience challenges differently, manage differently, and victor differently. This being said, we are all different in many ways but the same when it comes to the end results. The end results is important and connected to a successful way of managing challenges in life that may present itself causing mental instability or a moment of an obscured pathway. This could include but not be limited to children, adults, employment, financial status, education, living status, and more. Mental health is important as we balance these challenges in life. Mental health also known as emotional, psychological, or even social well-being is not an isolated matter. We all experience this on different levels in different ways; despite the billionaire or the celebrity you see on television, or the CEO or leader in your organization that seems to have it all together- we all experience challenges. The importance of these challenges are knowing they will not last forever, you're not alone, and seek support as needed. In the business world, we are not as conscious of our employees mental health and well-being as we should be. Most of the time it is about the company's goals and much needed outcomes to ensure financial gains to stay relevant. Unfortunately, many good people are sacrificed along the way. Instead of speaking to the employee that is normally consistent and contributed to the gains of the company, we add fire to the matter and some eventually are let go -released from one of the stable areas of their lives, ultimately causing a more spiral downward within the individual mental status. For those are in leadership, business owners and anyone people look up to- your next steps of leadership matters; including your next words, decisions, call, etc. What does your next move look like interacting with your staff?
