Impact on Others
Management decisions can affect your employees' productivity, attitude and effectiveness at work. For example, when dividing employees into teams for a large project, a manager's team-making decisions can affect the project's outcome. If they create teams using teammates who work together well, their overall productivity may increase. Managers who understand which employees perform what tasks most adequately can increase department productivity.
Management decisions can also affect how often employees meet deadlines. For example, if a manager creates acceptable deadlines for each team member, they may be more likely to meet them on time. Creating appropriate deadlines based on your team's performance can also help manage workplace stress by giving your staff enough time for assignments.
Decisions affect your company reputation
As a leader, your decisions can affect your department's reputation. The products you choose to create, the brand you promote and the messages you convey to your customers can also affect your corporation's reputation. Decisions that exclude public view, such as your employee schedule, can affect reputation. For example, if you introduce a generous paid time off policy, employees may tell others, such as friends or family, about this positive change. Those who learn about the policy may feel more inclined to purchase from a business it views as supportive of its staff.
Decisions change your workplace environment
Decisions you make in the workplace can affect the environment for both you and your employees. Decisions concerning staff, budget and equipment can affect a work environment's space and stress level. For example, hiring new employees during a busy season can help reduce stress. Management decisions can help ease workplace tension and improve productivity. Choosing how often to hire employees can also affect a workplace environment. For example, if you hire employees at the same time every year, current employees may better prepare themselves for new hire training.
This month is the awareness month of mental health. This should not be the only month we are aware and/or speak of the importance of mental health but it is a great opportunity for us all. Let's speak!
For all those who own a business, you're in a leadership in a business, and/or a part of a business in any aspect your mental heath status is extremely important as well as those around you. This could include a co-worker, a team player, a student, a volunteer, CEO, management, or those in a higher up seat helping to make decisions.
Just simply being a human shares challenges in life. Being able to manage those challenges in life that may present themselves is the key. Some may have this all planned out with a support system, tools, resources, and other ways to manage. However, each of us will experience challenges differently, manage differently, and victor differently. This being said, we are all different in many ways but the same when it comes to the end results.
The end results is important and connected to a successful way of managing challenges in life that may present itself causing mental instability or a moment of an obscured pathway. This could include but not be limited to children, adults, employment, financial status, education, living status, and more. Mental health is important as we balance these challenges in life. Mental health also known as emotional, psychological, or even social well-being is not an isolated matter. We all experience this on different levels in different ways; despite the billionaire or the celebrity you see on television, or the CEO or leader in your organization that seems to have it all together- we all experience challenges. The importance of these challenges are knowing they will not last forever, you're not alone, and seek support as needed.
In the business world, we are not as conscious of our employees mental health and well-being as we should be. Most of the time it is about the company's goals and much needed outcomes to ensure financial gains to stay relevant. Unfortunately, many good people are sacrificed along the way. Instead of speaking to the employee that is normally consistent and contributed to the gains of the company, we add fire to the matter and some eventually are let go -released from one of the stable areas of their lives, ultimately causing a more spiral downward within the individual mental status.
For those are in leadership, business owners and anyone people look up to- your next steps of leadership matters; including your next words, decisions, call, etc. What does your next move look like interacting with your staff? What does the mental health awareness look like in your organization? Have you had training on how to manage your staff or team in a crisis (individual or group)? There's support and help for those interested in managing the retention in your organization and team.
Feel free to contact us for more information or discuss the best direction for your team, organization, or more. Mental health does not discriminate with age, race, or socio-economic status. Let's be well, together!
What is DEI?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This term and or words has been used for a very long time -going to the civil rights movement. During that time period in the 1960's, DEI was truly value and included many of those wanted to see change and fairness among human beings-despite color, race, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, etc. However, today's society seems to not value DEI as much until the most recent actions of the protests to include George Floyd, Brianna Taylor, Daunte Wright, and Tamir Rice or the (6) Asian women who lost their lives in the shooting taken place in Atlanta just to name a few.
DEI is the stage of revival. For many to understand, DEI is now being mentioned and high requested via trainings to support agencies in hiring, educational institutions that teach all students from all backgrounds, and NPO's who are looking to diversify the services offered for better funding opportunities.
There's the others who with little knowledge consider DEI an "I gotcha". For the sake of time, we will not begin to discuss the reported statistics on the background and socioeconomic status of those challenging DEI. However, to be a part of the understanding, the talk, the discussion, and the courageous individuals standing for something and falling for nothing to be a part of that change - you can contact lead, start, or request training sessions for more guidance on becoming more diverse or DEI aware in your workplace, school, group, church, or any place where people that are different represents.
Feel free to contact our office, if you need more information and/or looking for an organization that could assist in this area.
A true LEADER is more than giving directions, sitting on the throne, or getting paid a higher salary. Being a leader is so much more. A true leader is one that is not afraid to speak up, ability to lead the team from the front or the back, far from afraid of getting in the paint, if needed, and listening to their team or those they're leading. If you are a leader and/or in a leadership role of any sort and find yourself afraid to:
1. Challenge or question the status quo.
2. Give credit to your team members and/or others who may have had contributed a great deal to a change.
3. Make decisions that are not in the safe zone but allow those around you to think beyond their norm.
5. Be wrong
Then, if you found yourself relating to any one of those items mentioned above and/or could think of areas you may be questioning your leadership, then you should take a moment and self reflect where you are. Take a look at your role, the validity of your role, and the people you're leading. Hopefully, this will allow you to self check, seek assistance, and allow yourself to be that great, unafraid leader you wish to be.
The great John Lewis stated, "You cannot be afraid to speak up and speak out for what you believe. You have to have courage, raw courage".
If you or your agency would like to explore a more in-depth approach to addressing this topic, you may contact us for more information and available trainings.

Those you're providing services to, partnerships, and potential clients and customers in the future. With a clear understanding of who and what is a customer, you can begin to think about those that fall into the categories shared. Now some organizations, depending on their services and more in-depth focus, this could vary. However, the goal remains the same- knowing your customers.
The importance of knowing your customers include being aware of how to continue and/or improve your commodity level or better your services. Customers are pretty vocal and knowledgeable as to what they're looking for or expecting from you. Therefore knowing who you serve is a must and benefit for your business.
Types of Customers
Since 1995, employees have been recognized across the world on a larger scale. However, as one of the main sources and stakeholders in businesses are those we employ. These are the people who support the efforts and goals on a daily basis, those who believe in the mission and the vision of the company, and those who ensure things are kosher with partners, agreement holders, customers, clients, and others.
Obviously, employees exist prior to the national recognition back in 1995 to appreciate employees. Therefore, the first Friday in March should simply be an extension and addition of moments to express your appreciation for your employees. Please remember the important people in the company and celebrate them accordingly.

If you are in some form of leadership (CEO, Director, Management, etc.), can you honestly answer this question? It's been shown that one in five workers in the USA are exposed to a hostile work environment. As we proceed to take a look at the impact on employees and volunteers, we will find this act occurs more than it should.
Let's define the word hostile, to be on the same page. Hostile is the act of one being aggressive, antagonistic, confrontational, unfriendly, and could be seen as a unsympathetic individual. As we define the word hostile, we can move forward with a clear picture of what this may look like in the work environment. Often times, such an act is overlooked, portrayed to be something else less than, and not immediately addressed and for some at all.
Unfortunately, one could experience the impact and/or reaction to such an act when working alongside a hostile individual or group. If it's any form of leadership to employee or employee to employee - this could be detrimental to the mission/vision/goals of the organization, if not addressed or handled. This is one of the many reasons an organization should have an HR (Human Resource) team, department, or agency with an unbias eye to assist in such a matter. With the attempt to avoid or dismiss an hostile act could cost the agency in many ways- legally, an undesired workplace, distraction, and decrease in employee work performance.
As a matter of fact, here are some (not all) signs that you or someone you know maybe in a hostile work environment. Just to name a few:
If you would like to improve your turnover rates, promote teamwork, and build internal capacity throughout your organization, please see Q-Performance & Associates International contact us and let's discuss next steps. Don't embrace hostility, let's embrace cordiality.
Together, let's UNINSTALL hostility in the workplace!
I will start off with a well said and perfect quote, "Leaders lead Leaders".
Back in the day, when a new staff, new graduate, or one simply stepping into the workforce for the first time- there was that person(s) that would welcome you and pledge to take you under their wing. This would include making sure you knew the ropes to include but not be limited to all policies, rules, tips, and tricks to be the best employee you could be. In addition, if you were that one with the something extra, you may hear " I am going to train you on everything and one day you'll have my job".
Unfortunately, this phrase or form of words are not hear often nowadays. We've surveyed and found that many of today's workers feel stuck with no room to advance. This is due to ideas such as small organizations, leaders having no where to advance, and leaders simply not confident in moving forward or less the skills to do so. This is a true impact on the way forward for many organizations (non-profit and for-profit). This could be a challenge for encouraging future employees to join your organization, remain loyal to the organization, and willing to use their talents to help move the organization forward.
With that being said, leaders should be aware of when the time is present to Step Down, To Step Up in advancement of the organization. Great leaders, lead leaders for such a day of moving their agendas into higher heights. Some of the effects of leaders holding their organizations hostage include but are not limited to
1. Visionary. Without full understanding that the idea should or could be better carried out by someone else.
2. Faith. Not having faith in those up and coming leaders being trained for such time.
3. Implement. Not allowing those with talents to spring into action at best.
4. Limitations. Causing or posing limitations to those in leadership role, ready and willing to step up.
5. Fear. This could cause a domino effect to many companies heading and in need of next level leaders. Fear could cause others to fear and keep current leader still; further promoting the company to become immobile in its efforts and ability to advance.
6. Pause. This person could potential cause others to deliberately miss out on great opportunities (internal).
As a progressive leader, it is encouraged that you trust in the process and your own leadership. This will guide you to knowing when its time to move forward, next level, next steps. Every great leader is girded with a plan of action and is not threatened by new progressive leadership. Stepping down to step up to a higher calling and next level is vital in feeding your leadership. STEP UP!
If you're interested in exploring your leadership gauges, not sure if you're leading or stalling your staff, or looking for a way to encourage your leadership team, share a message with us via contact.
As we begin to think of the working flow of an organization - with approximately 60 plus employees, HR is not only a value but a necessary tool for both non-profits and for-profits. Let's quickly review:
If you have any questions or need assistance in preparing documentations, policies, and/or discuss regulations or next steps- feel free to give us a call or complete the contact form for immediate assistance.
Many clients in the past years have been awesome when it comes to the vision phase of a plan and/or project. However, the implementation phase is indeed a different phase of any project, job, or plan. Each role and position of a project is vitally important and connected for the goal of success.
The visionary is what ignite the process of a project for the most part. A visionary has the ability to see the master plan, the entire picture from draft to final phase. A vision has the ability to see clearly the vision of the objective and goals along with progress toward the aimed success. Most of all, visionaries are masters at keeping those involved in the project focused on the overall picture, the end goals.
The implementer is the reliable and disciplined individuals which turns the great ideas and plans into actual work. Implementers are essential to getting things done. Implementers are also known as drivers. Drivers is a personality trait that include confidence, leadership, and determination. Drivers can also be known as insensitive, harsh, sarcastic and possibly more words in this arena. However, the drivers get the job done from small to large- this will include managing and leading teams and personalities. As an implementer this is a good trait to have and to look for when considering one for a position or role to carry out a vision and mission. In the same thought, an implementer (driver) will need the layout in clarity and precision. The low end of this role will be the need for the visionary to possibly change something along the way. This may not put a smile on the implementer face. As a result of professionalism, I am sure the implementer chosen will/can find a way to make it all happen at the end.
The visionary and the implementer compliment one another and is necessary in the progress of a project, idea, and more for the goal of success. Check out some of the known or not visionaries shared below who included a group of implementers to assist in carrying out the big vision= today's success:
